Installation rules for drywall

Installation of drywall is done on a frame of wood bars, metal profiles or special assembly mixtures based on gypsum powder or cement. Installation of gypsum board on mounting glue is not recommended on the ceiling, it is better to use a frame for a ceiling. The result of all the techniques will be one: flat sheet fastening, reliably, in one plane, durable, to avoid the rumbling and rattling of the finished gypsum plasterboard, so that it does not resonate outside noise.

Installation of gypsum board on frame

When constructing gypsum plasterboard structures, plasterboard is usually mounted on a framework of metal profiles.

The technology of mounting gypsum board on the frame with the help of screws is quite simple. When designing the frame, the following fastening parameters must be taken into account. On the ceiling, drywall is fixed with self-tapping screws for plasterboard with a step of no more than 30 cm. If you will make a skeleton of a ceiling, arrange profiles both along, and across, with distance no more than 60 see. A checkered frame with a cell size of about 60x50 cm will be obtained. The size of the drywall sheet in the transverse direction is 120 cm and in the longitudinal direction is 250 cm. In this case it will be enough to screw 5 screws across the sheet and 6 screws along. For one whole sheet of drywall you will have 30 self-tapping screws, this can be taken into account in the calculations. When attaching a drywall sheet, you should know one more rule. Screw the screw around the edge of the sheet at a distance of 1 cm from the long and 1.5 cm from the transverse end. The edges of the plasterboard should lie on the center of the profile with an indentation of about 2 mm, so that the center of the profile between two sheets of gypsum board formed a seam about 5 mm wide.

Mounting gypsum cardboard on the rack profiles in principle does not differ from the mounting on the ceiling profiles, except for the doubled distance between self-tapping screws (not more than 60 cm) due to the lack of cross-links in the frame. In the doorways the profile will circle the door frame around the perimeter and there it is possible to fasten the drywall more often. If you decide to mount a drywall on the partition or a wall in two layers, then the places of screwing in the first and second layers of the screws must be displaced vertically by 30 cm.

When all the sheets of plasterboard are screwed, the cables for the sockets, switches and light fixtures are removed, filling and finishing of the seams between the pieces gypsum cardboard and putty grooves over the self-tapping screws. For joints a special mixture is used, for example Knauf Fugenfüller is a gypsum mixture for stirring in water or ready in buckets, the working time of the mixture is 30-50 minutes, when it freezes, it forms a durable material, which is very poorly polished.

It is mandatory for all seams to paste reinforcing material, serpian, paper or other reinforcing ribbons of putty. If two factory, cardboard-covered edges converge in the seam, a 8-10 cm serpian is used.

Pits from the hats of self-tapping screws. Thus, Fugenfüller can also fill in the depressions from the screws. Spread with a spatula (6-8 cm wide) in different directions, to ensure that the plaster putty completely filled the entire fossa. When the putty dries, it will sit down - this is quite normal. Re-grooves can be filled with ordinary filler for the finish layer.

On external corners it is necessary to glue the profile corners with glue or to coat with Fugenfueller filler. You can also use the usual mixes for puttying, but the thickness of the layer for a reliable installation of the corner will be thicker.

Ideally, when there are on the outer corner, two factory edges: then the reinforcing corner does not protrude beyond the plane of the walls. Then, after mounting the corner, you can immediately putty putty plaster.

Installation of drywall on glue

For gluing of drywall to mounting glue Perlfix need a conventional construction tool, any experience with solutions and mixtures, enough flat wall surface (average deviation up to 2 cm), and a dense base primed with a deep penetrating primer.

Finishing of rough walls instead of plaster is done with solid sheets of plasterboard, which are placed vertically, the front side outward. On the back side of the sheet, a sufficient amount of adhesive solution is applied, the technology of working with which is always printed on a bag of dry mixture. The surface of gypsum cardboard in one plane will have to be pulled out with a stretched line.

At the edges of the sheet should remain clearances about 5 mm wide, which can be sealed only after the glue dries.
